The Merrimack Valley NH Region encompasses the state's largest cities. Manchester, Nashua, Derry, Salem, and State Capitol Concord are located here.
The Monadnock Region contains one of America's most hiked mountains - Mount Monadnock. The mountain can be seen from most towns in south western New Hampshire. The Monadnock Region also contains several recreational lakes like Spofford Lake, Dublin Lake, and Swanzey Lake.
The mighty Connecticut River divides New Hampshire and Vermont and this beautiful river valley also contains many historical and scenic areas. Dartmouth College, Old Fort #4, and Maxfield Parish's former home Saint Gaudens is located here. The longest covered bridge in New Hampshire can be found here as well.
The far northern region of the Granite State is known as the "North Country" or "Great North Woods Region". This area extends north past the 45th parallel to the Quebec border. The headwaters of the Connecticut River are found here in the Connecticut Lakes Region of Pittsburg, New Hampshire's northernmost town and former independent republic.
